Book Sale, Radio Interview, Giveaway!

Book sale!

I wanted to end this year on a high note, and what’s more appealing than a book sale (well, besides world peace)? Yes, I’ve reduced the price of Getting Naked for Money on Amazon from $15.99 to $10.99. Get the bargain while it lasts — until January 1. In 2017, well…who knows? This is a sure thing.

Why buy the book, you’re wondering? Aside from the page on my blog that goes into detail about it, and the 40 five-star reviews on Amazon, I just happen to have done an explanatory…

Radio Interview!

This past Tuesday I was on the Buckmaster Show, talking about you know what. Host Bill Buckmaster is a media icon in Arizona, and a terrific interviewer. He not only read my book before doing the segment, but he is also one of the few people I’ve ever encountered to guess the derivation of my last name. You’ll have to listen to the interview to find out what that is.

Giveaway!

Want to gamble on winning a book instead of buying one? You have until midnight, December 31st, to try to win a copy of Getting Naked for Money on the excellent More Time to Travel blog. All you have to do is comment on why you’d like to read it. Easy peasy.

It’s worth going over  to the site anyway to check out the Q & A, wherein I give sage advice on How to Be a Travel Writer.

But Wait, There’s More…

Okay, enough with the exclamation points.

That picture at the top of the page? It might just be my favorite portrait, ever. It captured me smiling, wearing my favorite shirt and my favorite earrings with all my books on my desk, and Madeleine immortalized on my computer. I brag on it here as an intro to a happy event: The photographer, Brendan Guy Murphy, got hitched in Las Vegas yesterday — at the Graceland Wedding Chapel, yet.

Congratulations Brendan and Dallas! Rock on, Elvis.

So, see, 2016 wasn’t all bad.

I would suggest that you buy my book — have I mentioned that it’s funny? — but no matter what you do, Happy New Year! That requires one last exclamation point because it’s a command.

Thank you! It’s easy to talk when you’re talking about something you wrote — and also when you’re on the radio and don’t have to worry what you look like. As for the Czech background, I was a bit surprised too when a writer who worked on a Fodor’s project for me in Prague came back and told me that, when people saw my assignment letter, they said “Ah Yar-o-lim, she is Czech.” It was all part of the Austro-Hungarian empire and it’s not a specifically Jewish name either. Someday I’ll have to look into my father’s genealogy.
